As compelling as I find the abandoned homes in the desert to be, I’m just as intrigued by the possessions that have been left behind with them. Amongst the bottles and cans, the computer monitors and televisions, the furniture, motorcycles, refrigerators, and washing machines, there always seems to be a bedspring. I stumbled upon this one in the yard of a deserted "jackrabbit" homestead in Wonder Valley, a beautiful, if desolate, stretch of desert not far from Joshua Tree.
